This position is primarily responsible for reviewing and coordinating all detailed instrument/automation systems and telecommunications engineering. This role will also oversee instrumentation/automation engineering performed to ensure compliance with the specifications of the contract. The Field Engineer must have an understanding of automation software and be able to develop, maintain and monitor automation processes.


+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical or Electrical)

+ Minimum 2 - 5 years of similar experience is required.

+ Solid understanding of Automation software and engineering/design.

+ Strong knowledge of scripting and ability to develop, maintain, and monitor automated processes.

+ Extensive experience in automation and instrumentation systems - including considerable practical experience in design and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation systems.

+ Understand all technical drawings with the ability to read and write control software to modify control/protection schemes and strategies or to direct and instruct sub-suppliers of the same.

+ Experience in the Petroleum Industry with broad based knowledge of oil and gas product lines.

+ Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

+ Demonstrates problem-solving skills and a keen attention to details and accuracy.

+ Good mechanical aptitude and industry knowledge.

+ Ability to work under minimal or no supervision.

+ Possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record; able to travel to various locations within territory.

+ Able to speak, write, and read the English language.

+ Able to pass drug test and background screening.

+ Assist maintenance personnel in complex troubleshooting.

+ Responsible and accountable for reviewing and coordinating all detailed instrument/automation systems and telecommunications engineering.

+ Responsible for coordination of instrumentation/automation systems across the scopes of work to ensure seamless integration.

+ Oversee instrumentation/automation engineering performed to ensure compliance with the specifications of the contract.

+ Propose/review design solutions, prepare/review data sheets, perform/review bid evaluations and advise on the instrumentation/automation systems portion of work for new for the field development.

+ Provide site support and technical assistance for the entire project life cycle, of detailed design, construction, hook-up and commissioning of the new facilities

+ Observe relevant factory acceptance tests and/or site acceptance tests; review and coordinate works both offshore and onshore and to provide instruction and guidance on technical issues in line with the project requirements. Ensure that all suppliers equipment is in compliance with design specifications.

+ Work to review existing instrumentation/ automation systems for adequacy of design. Perform detailed design of instrumentation/automation modifications, as required.

+ Interface with, and provide technical guidance for the activities of consultant engineering contractors as required.

+ Review material requisitions [for purchase orders]; review and provide recommendation where contractor proposes a vendor which is not on the approved vendors list of the contract.

+ Provide technical reports and assist in preparing management reports and attending project meetings.

+ Maintain a complete record of technical items and correspondence to support design decisions and equipment selection, documenting all key instrument systems engineering calculations.


+ Ability to use problem solving skills in the diagnosis and resolution of customer issues.

+ Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests.

+ Able to communicate with customers at all levels and capable of managing their expectations.

+ Requires extensive travel by automobile within territory or to branch offices. May require occasional travel by air or vehicle to out of state locations. 25% travel required.

+ Maintain regular and on-time attendance. Hours may exceed 40 hours per week. Able to work weekends, holidays, and able to respond to calls as needed to fulfill business objectives.

+ The employee may be required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch, and work in close quarters.

+ Employee may be exposed to extreme weather conditions, warehouse environments, or production/manufacturing locations.

+ Employee may be required to be on an on-call rotation schedule.
