**Job Description**


The Principal Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for various aspects of operation, maintenance and reliability of Bakken Midstream pipeline systems. The successful candidate will also manage pipeline system capital projects that typically require routing assessments, constructability review and design of alternative construction methods (such as HDD, Microbore, etc.), hydraulic friction loss calculations, pipe sizing and material selection, and pipeline alignments.


More specifically, job duties include the following:


Be an active safety leader in the field, proactively generate new ideas, and dynamically contribute to the journey of safety excellence


Ensuring corporate requirements and initiatives related to HSE, technical and operational are incorporated in the design and execution of pipeline CAPEX projects


Ensuring pipeline CAPEX projects completed according to regulatory requirements (EPA, DOT, PHSMA, PSM)


Supporting operations as needed in troubleshooting issues with existing facilities and incorporating lessons learned in future designs


Analyze pipeline defects using currently available formulas and methodologies and advise field personnel on proper repair methods


Perform data integration of relevant pipeline information for threat mitigation within confines of pipeline integrity management plan


Utilize flow assurance model in conjunction with SCADA and integrated remote operating centers to optimize operations and participate in field development planning


Perform field inspections of contractor crews to ensure compliance with safety, project specifications, procedures, permitting requirements, local requirements


Ensure regulatory compliance, provide documentation and participate in external agency compliance audits (incl. DOT & PSM)


Assist with maintaining pigging database and optimize testing plan to address mechanical integrity issues and mitigate problems


Assist with management of Cathodic Protection (CP) contractor and crews to analyze all phases of corrosion control, implementing corrosion control programs but not limited to cathodic protection, coatings, internal corrosion and AC mitigation


Need to possess SAP knowledge and handle interface with SAP PM


Promote safety culture that encourages reporting as well as contributing to incident investigations and ensuring quality actions are implemented


This position requires collaboration with other groups such as Operations, Maintenance, Reservoir Engineering, Drilling and Completion Engineering, Facilities, HSE, Regulatory, Production Accounting, and others to ensure maximum value creation. This position is based in Williston, ND reporting directly to the Bakken Midstream Leader.


**Qualifications**


Must have a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering


Minimum of ten (10) years of pipeline operations experience, working with a pipeline operator or service provider required


Strong Project Management Skills and strong experience with cost and schedule control (MS Project strongly preferred)


Strong pipeline simulation skills with flow assurance programs (PIPESIM strongly preferred)


Working knowledge of regulations, codes, and standards applicable to US onshore shale operating regions


Must have experience and competence within each of the following:


PHMSA Title 49 CFR 192 and 195 (Hazardous Gas/Liquid)


API 570 Piping Inspection Code (Inspection, Repair, Alteration and Rerating of In-Service Piping Systems)


API 650 Tank Design


ASME B31.3 Process Piping


ASME B31.8 Gas Transmission & Distribution Piping Systems


Coating and welding standards


NACE standards


Strong background in midstream onshore operations including transmission and gathering pipeline systems, terminals, and booster stations


Knowledge of pipeline engineering for outside the fence construction, including land permitting, environmental regulations, and geotechnical impacts


Experience with design and operation of leak detection and SCADA systems would be beneficial


Strong MS Office skills: Excel spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook


Experience with design of alternative instruction methods including HDD, mirco-tunneling, and jack and bore
